Job Title: Chief Technology Officer

Chief Technology Officer (Founding Member)

Location: Hong Kong (Preferred); San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Boston, MA; or EU.

Compensation: Founder-level equity package + startup-scaled cash salary.

The Mission: Re-Engineering the Circular Economy

OKOsix is a Climate Deep Tech venture at the forefront of Advanced Material Innovation, incubated in Hong Kong and Silicon Valley. We are addressing the global saturation of microplastics and the massive carbon footprint of the synthetic material industry. We have developed a proprietary biopolymer platform that transforms plant-based fibers and natural materials into high-performance and fully compostable materials for multiple applications in healthcare and consumer products. Leveraging powerful tailwinds from accelerating global regulatory shifts and plastic bans, we are not just making "green" products; we are providing the decarbonized material infrastructure required for the next century.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Founding CTO to be the technical architect of our global expansion. This is a "player-coach" role for a visionary leader who thrives in the early-stage "chaos" of a startup and possesses the versatility to lead R&D, product strategy, engineering, and global evangelism simultaneously. As the company scales, you will lead the effort to recruit and hire dedicated leaders for Product and Engineering, allowing your role to evolve into a dedicated executive CTO position.

Your First 12–24 Months (The Mandate)

  • IP & R&D: Translate core nanotechnology IP into 1–2 commercially viable, flagship medical/industrial products.

  • Scale-Up: Establish scalable manufacturing pathways, moving from laboratory breakthroughs to pilot production.

  • Team Building: Recruit and mentor a world-class R&D and engineering team, establishing an internal culture of excellence.

  • Global Strategy: Execute a global IP strategy and establish key technical partnerships within the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and academic circles.

Your Core Responsibilities (Evolving with Scale)

1. Strategic CTO & IP Architect

  • Define the long-term technology mission and maintain a rigorous intermediate-term technology roadmap.

  • Establish and execute a global IP strategy, including prioritization and filing of international patents.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the SAB, managing deliverables and commissioned research.

2. Chief Product Officer (Commercialization)

  • Transition concepts into commercially viable, high-margin products that solve specific customer needs.

  • Lead the pragmatic aspects of the product lifecycle and Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies.

  • Define OKOsix’s technical differentiation and competitive messaging.

3. Head of Engineering (Operations & Scaling)

  • Oversee engineering work to optimize products for specific "beachhead" markets.

  • Define supply requirements and lead CAPEX planning for world-class manufacturing facilities.

  • Lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to ensure a seamless transition to high-volume production.

4. Chief Evangelist

  • Represent OKOsix at international conferences, exhibitions, and industry forums.

  • Author and promote white papers to strengthen our reputation as the global leader in circular material science.

Candidate Profile

  • Systems Thinker: You operate seamlessly from molecular-level R&D to board-level strategy.

  • Charismatic Leader: You possess the presence to represent OKOsix to the Board of Directors and global stakeholders.

  • Hands-on Mindset: You are ready to lead technical R&D work directly while managing and inspiring a team.

  • Resilient & Positive: You are enthusiastic about managing the challenges of a fast-growing startup and inspiring a multi-cultural team.

Technical Requirements:

  • PhD: Doctorate in Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Development, or a related field from a top global university.

  • Experience: 10+ years in new material development (biodegradable/compostable polymers, nanotechnology, or low-carbon materials).

  • Track Record: Proven success in taking technical concepts through the full product lifecycle to successful commercial launches.

  • Manufacturing: Direct experience defining requirements and setting up production factories for new material technologies will be a bonus.

  • Languages: Business-level fluency in English is required; Cantonese or Mandarin is a significant plus.

  • Mobility: Ability to travel and reside in Hong Kong, China, the EU, or the US for extended periods (3–6 months) as required.

Why Join Us?

  • Founders' Level Equity: A significant stake in a company poised to disrupt the multi-billion-dollar plastics market.
